Words From Pastor Mark – 9/13

We are now 6 weeks into our new beginning at Crescent Avenue. Some great work was done the months prior to July. We are all thankful for the outstanding leadership of the members of CAUMC, the interim pastor Phil and the music director Paul.

But now is the time for all of us to step up and do something. Most people who do not attend church say it is because nobody ever ask them. So here is what I would like for you to consider over the next few weeks. INVITE SOMEONE TO CHURCH. I have listed below a few steps on how.

  1. Live and display the spirit of love with all you encounter
  2. Share a personal testimony of God’s work in your life
  3. Display an excitement about your relationship with Jesus
  4. Display excitement about the ministry in which you serve (your church)
  5. Share information about your church’s worship
  6. Take the leap! INVITE THEM TO CHURCH!
  7. Demonstrate excitement at their attendance
  8. Introduce them to others
  9. Now that they have attended tell them how excited you were to have them attend with you and that you hope they will attend again

This is the easiest thing we can do. . . but it pays large dividends in the Kingdom of God.

Weekday School – July News

Summer is flying by. July 4th  is half way through the summer. Maybe because we have fi-nally gotten some summer-like weather. This is one of the best times of the year; we have children who used to attend here come back for visit. Some of these children we have not seen in years. It is wonderful to see how they have grown. It is really cool to see the foundation we laid for their future educa-tion. Also, the children remember how special they are to us.

July will be a faster and furious month with vacations, trainings, Fourth of July, CAWS’ Olympics, getting ready to re-enroll our children, advertising for the fall. The chil-dren will enjoy being outside and playing in the water wands. Water always soothes everyone’s nerves and anxiety.

I hope everyone gets to enjoy some of the beautiful days we have had lately and will have to rest of the summer. Summer holds many exciting events. CAWS’ School-age children will be selling sno-cones on Wednesday evening from 4:30 – 5:30 for $.50. The profits will go to the school-age program.

Please continue to collect all our labels and stuff. Some-times you really have to look for those little Box Tops, they can be small and hide. We are in the process of checking into Tyson Chicken A+ program. When we re-ceive confirmation that we have been accepted, we will let you know if you will need to start collecting them. We are always looking for ways to earn some extra money.

CAWS has requested to be invited for the Let’s Grow Grant – Phase 2. We want to make some very necessary changes to the playground areas and purchase new equipment to enhance to outdoor environment.

Also, this year CAWS has sent a requested to United Way to have volunteers come on Day of Caring and paint two of the classrooms this year. Hopefully, we will receive their help. Our classrooms have never been painted since I have been here which will be 10 years in September. CAWS will have to purchase the equipment for the job but it will make our rooms look nice.

Have a wonderful month!

COMING SOON To a church near you

“Coming Soon to a Church Near You” has shown up in bulletins for several weeks. The question now is “How soon, is ‘Soon?” Obviously soon is not as soon as Paul Kendall and Fritz would have liked. The last word we had about the new console for the organ, is that it has made it over the mountains (It was built in Oregon and is now resting comfortably in Indianapolis. It is reported there is a missing link that will connect the console to the

existing pipework. When that part arrives, “soon” will be a really “soon!” The Console’s location is partially pre-pared on the left side of the chancel. The floor will be completed when the old console is removed.

So be patient, and one of these Sundays, Paul will have a brand new console to work with. There will probably be a couple of weeks when only the electronic sounds will be used as there are a lot of connections that will have to be made to get the pipes working again. Hopefully it won’t be too long before “soon” will really be “soon,” or maybe become “now!”
